Conservation Research Internship in the Amazon Rainforest in Peru:
Are you looking to start a career in conservation research? Are you passionate about sustainability and helping to protect the rainforest?

This 6-month internship programme is designed to help students and graduates students develop specific career skills in conservation research, community development, and non-profit project management, in the heart of the Amazon!

You'll intern in a leading research and experiential learning organisation in the Manu Biosphere Reserve. We offer structured learning through our programmes which is delivered at a higher level in the internship through one-on-one mentoring and frequent training workshops.

AUSTRALIA:
CUSTOMISED: Conservation Management Internship:
By doing an internship in conservation management, you can work in an organisation/company/government department which specialises in ecological issues and/or animal observation, research and welfare. There are different roles within the conservation management area. Some of the conservation management tasks in Australia may include:

  • Assisting in animal care which involves aquarium care, feeding birds and exhibits, cleaning tanks, cages and compounds.
  • Data entry and further research.
  • Assisting with various aspects of bush regeneration and site management of the wetland.
  • Working in different aspects of the wetland depending on your expertise.
  • Aiding in the collection of data primarily from field surveys, such as visual encounter, auditory, and trapping.
  • Bush regeneration activities including mulching, weeding, planting of native species and general garden maintenance duties.
  • Environmental monitoring including water quality testing.
  • Assisting site managers with administration of grants and projects, reporting and assessment duties and record keeping.

By doing an internship in conservation management, you can work in an organisation/company/government department which specialises in ecological issues and/or animal observation, research and welfare. There are different roles within the conservation management area. Some of the conservation management tasks in New Zealand may include:

  • Assisting with, developing and exercising surveys.
  • Pest and species monitoring in a reserve.
  • Bio-security checks.
  • Tracking for rodents and mustelids using traps and poisons.
  • Field visits and ecological assessments.
  • Liaising with key organizations and individuals.
  • Organising and managing data.
