This 21-day, 3-pronged Road Trip Adventure will take you down to the south to enjoy some of the country’s most beautiful beaches, up to the north to discover the wonders of Chiang Mai, and then trekking to meet an authentic Hill Tribe village. This is the chance to explore some of the best that the country of Thailand has to offer and enjoy every step of the way!

This road trip is guaranteed to give you an amazing and an unforgettable adventure!

SUMMARY OVERVIEW

TThe aim of this program is to bring you closer to the authentic Thailand. It comprises exciting adventure activities, exploration and sightseeing, plus some volunteering on local projects in local communities. Through the different projects and activities, you will get to truly immerse yourself in the Thai culture, customs and lifestyle.

Requirements:
Minimum age 18. If you're 16 or 17, you'll need signed parental permission. If you're under 16, you'll need to be accompanied by parent or guardian.

Due to the length and active nature of this program, a decent level of fitness is required.

  • Personal expenses such as table drinks, room service items, laundry, telephone calls, tips, portage at hotels or airport, bottles of water during your road travel etc.
  • Any additional expenses caused by or liability for disturbance in the trip program due to circumstances, weather conditions, sickness, natural disasters, riots etc.

DESCRIPTION

The aim of this program is to bring you closer to the authentic Thailand. Through different projects and activities, you'll get to truly immerse yourself in the Thai culture, customs and lifestyle.

Trunk to the South

On this segment you'll explore the beautiful South of Thailand! Whilst travelling through the provinces of Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon and Surat Thani by bus, you'll experience the thorough beauty of the Southern Thai culture, people and natural beauty.

These locations include Angthong National Park and Thailand’s finest island: Koh Samui! You'll take part in some voluntary efforts helping out at the beach, and also snorkeling in the clear blue sea. You'll be warmly greeted by the very friendly and ever smiling people of the South.

Train Tracks Northern Thailand

This segment of the program is designed to give you a full insight into the culture and local customs of the Northern Thai people. Through traveling and also helping out in local projects, you'll get to fully experience this gorgeous part of Thailand.

During the expedition, you will learn some amazing things about Thai culture, visit the “big giants” at an Elephant Conservation Center, explore Chiang Mai.

There is a volunteering component to this segment which will include teaching at a local school and working with very young children, and much more!

Trekking to Hill Tribes

You'll go on a trekking expedition to the famous Hill Tribes of Northern Thailand. During this visit you will be warmly welcomed by various hill tribes into their villages and you'll leaern all about their livelihoods. Experience and witness the authentic way of living that these hill tribes have practiced for hundreds of years.

This unique cultural encounter together with the beautiful and lush green covered mountain areas of Northern Thailand will make this an unforgettable experience!

Accommodation:

Along the route you will have overnight stays in hotels/guest houses, tents, buses, and even a boat!

SCHEDULE

You'll arrive on a Sunday, be welcomed at the airport and taken to the base centre where you'll be introduced to everyone. This is a 'free' day (with Brunch and Dinner) and you'll stay at the Hua Hin Centre overnight. Your Trip Itinerary begins the next day (Monday).

Week 1: Trunk to the South

Day 1: Monday

  • Breakfast at the Hua Hin center
  • Visit to Huay Mongkol Temple
  • Visit to Plearnwan market
  • Lunch
  • Take a scenic train from Hua Hin to Bang Saphan Yai
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay at hotel in Bang Saphan Yai

Day 2: Tuesday

  • After Breakfast, we start with Sightseeing and snorkeling on a three hour boat trip
  • Lunch on the boat
  • Back to the hotel
  • Free time at the beach
  • Dinner
  • Free time
  • Overnight train journey to Surat Thani

Day 3: Wednesday

  • After Breakfast in Surat Thani, we'll take a Minivan to the pier and a Boat to Koh Samui (2 hours)
  • Check in to hotel at Choeng Mon Beach
  • Lunch at the hote
  • Explore the local area near the Hotel/Beach.
  • Dinner at the guesthouse
  • We'll then go to a Night market
  • Overnight stay at the hotel/guesthouse (hot water, air-con & Wi-fi)

Day 4: Thursday

  • Travel to Angthong National Park by boat
  • Breakfast on the boat
  • Snorkeling and hiking, visiting the park and two islands
  • Lunch on the boat
  • Continue with the above program
  • Boat transfer from Angthong National Park to Koh Samui (2 hours)
  • Back to the hotel/guesthouse in Koh Samui
  • Dinner at a local restaurant in Koh Samui.
  • Overnight stay at the hotel/guesthouse (hot water, air-con & Wi-fi)

Day 5: Friday

  • Breakfast at the guesthouse
  • Visit Wat Phra Yai
  • Visit the Grandmother and Grandfather stones at Koh Samui, followed by ...
  • A visit to a beautiful waterfall where swimming is possible
  • Lunch back at the hotel
  • Dinner at a Thai restaurant
  • Overnight stay at the hotel/guesthouse (hot water, air-con & Wi-fi)

Day 6: Saturday

  • Breakfast at the hotel in Koh Samui
  • Free time on the beach
  • Lunch at a local restaurant
  • Check out from the hotel and head to the bus station.then ...
  • Overnight bus/boat from Koh Samui to Bangkok

Day 7: Sunday

  • Arrive at Mo chit bus station in Bangkok early in the morning.
  • Transfer to Singburi
  • Brunch at Volunteer Center (if arriving early enough)
  • Free time
  • Dinner at center

Week 2: Train Tracks Northern Thailand

Day 8: Monday

  • Breakfast at the Singburi Center
  • Transfer to Lopburi bus station
  • Lunch in Chum Saeng
  • Introduction at the homestay
  • Dinner
  • Small Thai welcome BBQ in the evening
  • Overnight stay at the homestay (fan, cold water & no Wi-Fi)

Day 9: Tuesday

  • Breakfast at the homestay
  • Thai traditional farming/agriculture activity
  • Lunch at the homestay
  • Train from Chum Saeng to Uttaradit (4 hours)
  • Check in at the hotel in Uttaradit
  • Visit to Hero Monument
  • Dinner at a local Thai restaurant
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Uttaradit (hot water, aircon & Wi-Fi)

Day 10: Wednesday

  • Breakfast at Tungkalo School, where you'd do some volunteering
  • Teaching at the Tungkalo school
  • Lunch at a local Thai restaurant
  • An educational visit to Tungyang Temple to learn about Buddhism from the Monks. Again, you'll give volunteering assistance to the Monks with cleaning of the temple premises
  • A visit to the local shopping center
  • Dinner at the shopping center
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Uttaradit (hot water, aircon & Wi-Fi)

Day 11: Thursday

  • Breakfast at the hotel
  • Train from Uttaradit to Lampang, with very nice mountain landscapes en route (3 hours, no air-con).
  • Check in at the hotel in Lampang
  • Have lunch at local Thai restaurant
  • A visit to an old Burmese Temple, where you will learn about Buddhism from the Monks. Again, you'll give volunteering assistance to the Monks with cleaning of the temple premises
  • A visit to the local market
  • Dinner at the local market
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Lampang (hot water, aircon & Wi-Fi)

Day 12: Friday

  • Breakfast across the way from the hotel in a local Thai restaurant
  • A visit to the Elephant Conservation Center in Lampang to learn about elephant care
  • Lunch at the Elephant Conservation Center
  • After lunch, you'll visit several cultural sites in Lampang
  • Dinner at a local Thai restaurant in Lampang
  • We then take a train from Lampang to Chiang Mai (2 hours and 15 minutes, with air-con)
  • Overnight stay at the hotel in Chiang Mai (hot water, air-con & Wi-Fi)

Day 13: Saturday

  • Breakfast at a local restaurant in Chiang Mai, followed by an educational and cultural excursion to Doi Pui villages, the Hill tribe people
  • A visit to Doi Suthep Mountain and Wat Phrathat temple
  • Lunch at a local restaurant in Chiang Mai
  • During the afternoon: free time in Chiang Mai
  • Dinner in Chiang Mai
  • Free time during the evening
  • Overnight stay at the same hotel in Chiang Mai (hot water, air-con & Wi-Fi)

Day 14: Sunday

  • Breakfast in the hotel
  • After breakfast we'll take a bus to Chiang Rai and check in at a hotel for our overnight stay (hot water, air-con & Wi-Fi)
  • Free day (no lunch will be served)
  • Dinner at a local restaurant Chiang Rai
  • Free time during the evening

Week 3: Trekking to the Hill Tribes

Day 15: Monday

  • Breakfast at the Hua Hin center
  • Visit to Huay Mongkol Temple
  • Visit to Plearnwan market
  • Lunch
  • Take a scenic train from Hua Hin to Bang Saphan Yai
  • Dinner
  • Overnight stay at hotel in Bang Saphan Yai

Day 16: Tuesday

  • Breakfast at a local restaurant in Chiang Rai
  • Go to Ban Doi homestay
  • Introduction session at Ban Doi homestay with the Akha tribe
  • Lunch at the homestay, followed by a visit to the Ban Doi Akha Hill Tribe village
  • Here you'll do some volunteering, helping at the Huai Phaking Temple and assisting the monks with cleaning of the temple premises
  • Dinner at the homestay
  • A visit to the night market
  • Overnight stay at the homestay in Ban Doi hill tribe village (cold water, fan, no Wi-fi)

Day 17: Wednesday

  • We start the day with Breakfast at Khun Khon National Park, and then ...
  • We Trek up to Khun Khon Waterfall. We'll have a packed lunch along the way
  • Cycle to Entrée Huai Chom lake and trekking to hill tribe village
  • Dinner at the homestay in an Akha hill tribe village
  • Overnight stay in tents at Khun Khon National Park (use of park shower/toilet facilities & no Wi-fi)

Day 18: Thursday

  • Breakfast at the Akha hill tribe village
  • Trekking through the hills and visit three hill tribe villages: Huai Chompoo Village, Mere Mon Village, and Mai Pattana Village
  • Lunch at Pattana Hill Tribe village
  • Trekking to Doi Chang hill tribe village
  • Dinner at Doi Chang hill tribe village
  • This is an opportunity to view the great sunset from the Doi Chang hill tribe village
  • Overnight stay at the homestay in Doi Chang hill tribe village (cold water, fan & no Wi-fi)

Day 19: Friday

  • Breakfast at Doi Chang hill tribe village
  • Trekking to Doi Lan hill tribe village
  • Lunch at Doi Lan hill tribe village
  • Trekking to Sang Charung hill tribe village
  • Dinner at Sang Charung hill tribe village
  • Then we have a Thank you party from Akha people at the hill tribe village
  • Overnight stay at the homestay in Sang Charung hill tribe village (cold water, fan & no Wi-fi)

Day 20: Saturday

  • Early morning breakfast at Sang Charung hill tribe village
  • Trekking to Mae Salong Barrage dam
  • Lunch at Mae Salong Barrage dam
  • Canoeing on the Lake to a hot spring
  • Back to Chiang Rai
  • Overnight bus from Chiang Rai to Bangkok (If you're doing other programs with us after the Road Trip, you'll transfer on to Singburi)

Day 21: Sunday

  • Your day of departure - not too tearfull, we hope!
